Merchant Initiated Transaction (MIT) :

Merchant Initiated Transaction entry is a transaction in a series of transactions that use a stored credential and that represent cardholder agreement for the merchant to initiate one or more future transactions over a period for a single purchase of goods or services. This can occur at scheduled or unscheduled intervals.

 

Cardholder Initiated Transaction (CIT) :

Cardholder Initiated Transaction entry is an electronic transaction that occurs at the order of a customer. Examples of customer initiated entries include transactions over the telephone or requested to occur in a face to face environment from a previously stored payment information.
